About Online Doctor Consult
No. If you require urgent medical assistance or are experiencing a life-threatening emergency in Australia, please call 000 immediately.
Examples of medical emergencies that require urgent attention include chest pain, serious head or spinal injuries, uncontrolled or severe bleeding, sudden loss of movement, difficulty breathing, or a reduced level of consciousness.
Online consultations are not suitable for emergency situations. If you are unsure whether your symptoms require emergency care, seek immediate medical advice or contact emergency services.
Online Doctor Consult is a secure platform that provides online medical services. We are just like your regular GP clinic, but online!
Our services include:
Online Doctor Consult is an Australian telehealth provider dedicated to making quality healthcare more accessible, digitally convenient, and patient-focused.
Our team of fully qualified doctors are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and meet the professional requirements set by the Medical Board of Australia.
Through our secure telehealth app platform, patients can connect with experienced Australian-registered doctors via video/ and or phone consultation from anywhere across Australia.
Online Doctor Consult complements the traditional healthcare system by providing convenient access to a range of medical services, including consultations, prescriptions for eligible medications, medical certificates, pathology requests, referrals, and general medical advice where clinically appropriate.
Our dedicated team of Australian registered doctors is available seven days a week, with a strong focus on delivering safe, reliable, and patient-centred care.
Medicare
Our Telehealth consultations are NOT Medicare bulk billed, which means consultation fees CANNOT be claimed through Medicare.
While our consultations are privately billed, we are committed to providing affordable, accessible healthcare. Our consultation fees are competitively priced and are often similar to, or lower than, the typical out-of-pocket costs associated with many Medicare-funded GP appointments.
A valid Medicare or Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI) number is required to access most of our services.
Services requiring a valid Medicare or IHI number:
- Online Prescriptions
- Blood Test Requests
- Specialist Referrals
- Telehealth Consultations
Service that does not require a Medicare or IHI number:
- Medical Certificates
In most cases, if you have a valid Medicare card, you will already have an Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI). However, it is also possible to have an IHI without holding a Medicare card.
Don't have a Medicare card?
If you do not have a valid Medicare card, you may be eligible to obtain an Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI) through Services Australia.
If you already have a valid IHI, please send your IHI details to our Support Team at support@onlinedoctorconsult.com.au, and we will be happy to assist you further.
Telehealth Doctor Consults
We do not currently offer Mental Health Care Plan consultations through our service.
We recommend booking an appointment with your local GP, who can assess your needs and prepare a Mental Health Care Plan if appropriate.
If you or someone else requires immediate support or you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14, attend your nearest emergency department, or call 000 if there is an immediate risk to your safety or the safety of others.
Our Online Doctor Consult doctors are AHPRA-registered and fully-insured doctors based in Australia. Consultations are completed online through the Online Doctor Consult app.
Every doctor must adhere to the highest clinical standards and your doctor’s prescriber number will be written on any prescription that is prescribed.
Yes. Online Doctor Consult is available across Australia, including metro, regional, and remote areas, provided you have an internet connection.
Medical Certificates
When clinically appropriate, our doctors may issue a Medical Certificate following your consultation.
Medical Certificates are generally provided to support absences from work, university, or other educational institutions.
Once your consultation is complete, your Medical Certificate will be available immediately in your email Inbox.
Please note that doctors are unable to backdate Medical Certificates.
Scripts
Once your prescription is approved, a QR code will be sent to your mobile phone and email that you can take to any retail pharmacy within Australia for dispensing of your prescribed medication.
Patient safety is our highest priority. Prescriptions are only issued when one of our Australian-registered doctors determines they are clinically appropriate following a review of your consultation.
A prescription request may not be approved for a variety of reasons, including the information provided during your digital health assessment, your medical history, current medications, or other clinical considerations.
During the consultation, the doctor will assess your individual circumstances and determine whether prescribing medication is safe and appropriate.
If you require a repeat prescription or ongoing medication management, you can book a Telehealth Consultation with one of our Australian-registered doctors. During your consultation, the doctor will review your medical history and determine whether a repeat prescription is safe and clinically appropriate.
If approved, our doctors will issue you a Escript digital prescription which you can take to any retail pharmacy within Australia.
Our doctors will not prescribe Schedule 8 or Schedule 4D medications. Please do not request an online doctor consultation via our service if you require these medications.
Blood Referrals
When clinically appropriate, our doctors can provide Specialist Referrals, Pathology (Blood Test) Requests, and Radiology (Imaging/X-Ray) referrals following your consultation.
A valid Specialist Referral may allow eligible patients with a current Medicare Card to claim a Medicare rebate for appointments with a specialist. Pathology and Radiology Requests may also be eligible for Medicare-funded services, depending on the type of test and your individual circumstances.
Your Referral or Request will be available immediately after your consultation in your email Inbox. You can save the document to your device, print a copy to take to your preferred specialist, pathology provider, or imaging centre, or forward it directly to their administration team.
Pathology and imaging results are sent directly to our clinic for review. Once your results have been received, we will advise you when to book a follow-up consultation with the next available doctor to discuss your results.
If you have not received notification that your results have been received within three - five business days of completing your test, please contact our support team for assistance.
Alternatively, during your initial consultation, you may request for your results to be forwarded to your regular family practice so you can discuss them with your usual GP.
